About Shortwood House Dementia, Elderly & Day Care Home
Shortwood House, established since 1999, is small and intimate family run residential care home in Hucknall, Nottingham, managed by Michael and Colette Thomas.
We are registered by Nottinghamshire County Council for 12 residents.
Our care home is for those who no longer feel safe or happy living on their own and want a homely and comfortable environment where they can be cared whilst maintaining their health, wellbeing and dignity.
Consistently providing exceptional care to our residents is at the heart of everything we do.
Shortwood House is a stone-built detached period home, set in well maintained gardens, situated in a residential area within easy walking distance to local shops and regular buses.
The care home has 3 floors, made easily accessible via a 5 person lift and 2 staircases.
Available to our residents are 12 single rooms. We welcome and encourage our residents to bring their personal possessions to personalise their room. Each room, decorated and maintained to a very high standard, provides a clean and comfortable bed. The rooms have either curtains or blinds, as well as a mirror, overhead and bedside lighting, drawers and enclosed space for storage of clothes. Also for each of the care home’s residents is a table that can be sat at, with seating for at least two additional people. There is also a hand basin and lockable safe.
We have two lounges, containing televisions and various entertainment systems. Both lounges have easy access to the dining area. Residents also have the option to dine privately if they prefer.
The care home has a ground floor bathroom, for easy accessibility, with dedicated and specialist facilities for assisted bathing. We also have a wet room, located on the first floor.
Full care and support is available day and night with all rooms and communal areas staffed 24 hours a day.
