The Ahmad family has owned Eshcol nursing home since 2011, and is also proud to run the longest serving care home in Newquay.

At Eshcol House we understand that families need two main assurances to help rest their minds: firstly, that their loved ones are receiving the best available high-end personal care, and secondly, that they are living in a comfortable, friendly environment in which they are as content as possible.

We are often told that Eshcol House strikes the ideal balance between supporting our guests in their daily lives and providing quality care through the highest levels of clinical expertise.

In order to keep our residence as welcoming and comfortable as possible, we encourage family members to visit their loved ones at any time, day or night, and are always ready to offer hot drinks and a warm welcome.

What We Offer

The Eshcol House team is passionate about personalised nursing and residential care, and we want residents and their families to feel they have a say in every aspect of the service we provide.

We offer respite care, step-up-step-down beds, crisis admissions and early intervention services, and we specialise in giving comfort and support during the later stages of our clients’ lives.

All our clients’ rooms are fully furnished, including remote-controlled LED televisions, and we encourage residents to bring their own furniture if they wish in order to create a real home away from home. Most rooms have en-suite bathrooms, and Eshcol is also equipped with fitted, specialised bathrooms with hoists and other aids to make bathing as pleasurable as possible. A mobile pay phone is available, as well as the option for residents to have their own phone installed in their rooms. A time-monitored nurse call system is also in every room, to ensure each guest’s wellbeing.

We are two minutes’ walk from our doctors’ surgery, so that supervision by a medical practitioner is available as and when needed. We also maintain good links with nearby hospitals and are happy to arrange visits from chiropodists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dentists and opticians. A hairdresser also regularly attends the home, as well as members of the clergy of various denominations.

Personal laundry is taken care of in our own fully-equipped laundry facilities.

We provide locally sourced food for seasonal menus which are cooked by our excellent chef Owen. The standard of food is high and we always try to cater, wherever possible, with off-the-menu requests. Breakfast is served from 8am, lunch from noon and supper from 5:30pm in the dining room or residents’ private rooms if preferred. Morning coffee and afternoon tea with homemade cake is served either in residents’ private rooms or in the lounge as required. Further beverages and light snacks are always available and accessible at no extra cost.
