Description:
Tusker House
Tusker House EMI care home is family owned and run since 1965. We provide care for those who because of their dementia, Alzheimer’s or confusion are unable to continue to care for themselves. The journey into residential care can be a difficult one, not only for the individual but also for their relatives/friend. There are many challenging decisions to make. We know how difficult it is to make ‘the’ decision about moving into residential care, so we make every effort to help you make that choice. We start by inviting you to visit our home. We then make a full assessment of your relative/friend, to ensure that we are the right EMI care home for them and can meet their needs.
Tusker House is situated in a quiet residential setting about half a mile from local shops. Frequent bus services pass nearby, affording access to the town centre about a mile away. There is a private off road car park within the grounds.
The accommodation is spacious with three lounges and two dining areas. There are areas where one can be quiet and just watch the world go by, or where you can sit with others to watch television or listen to music, or perhaps enjoy the conservatory which overlooks a sensory garden with extensive views to the sea. Clients also have access to attractive gardens which are landscaped around the house.
Bedrooms are on the ground and first floors with nurse call system, some are en-suite, some have level access wet room facilities, all rooms are located close to toilets/bathrooms with specialist bathing facilities for less able clients. There are two passenger lifts to serve the upper floor which can accommodate wheelchairs. We are equipped with hoists to assist less mobile residents.
To ensure the safety of our residents all external doors have a push button coded security pad to reduce the risk of clients wandering away from the home unattended. Our clients are welcome to leave the building at any time, but only when accompanied by a visitor or a member of staff.
Tusker House is supported by the District Nurses and GP’s, and enjoy the expertise of our visiting hairdresser, chiropodist, optician and dentist. Visits by Ministers of any denomination will gladly be arranged. Our local parish currently provides monthly communion (C of E).
Our kitchen team provides good home cooking with varied menus. They are able to cater for diabetics, vegetarians and any other requirements when necessary. All residents` linen, towels and personal clothes are laundered `in house`.
Visiting is positively encouraged and flexible. The proprietor and management team are readily available either in person or by phone – always happy for a chat.
