All prospective clients are offered an individually tailored introduction to the home. Their first few visits are usually on a casual basis for a chat with other clients and members of the staff team. When further interest is expressed a more formal introductory programme is arranged which will include overnight stays, social activities and opportunities to become familiar with the local area and community facilities.

It is essential that anyone moving to Tinkers Hatch should feel totally happy with this decision, that they are comfortable with the environment, clients, staff and suggested care plan.

Staff at Tinkers Hatch have considerable experience in working with people with a learning disability, over 50% of staff hold and NVQ qualification, most NVQ III. We have staff members who hold degrees and a trained social worker on the team.

The management team hold appropriate qualifications, they support and encourage staff in further training and personal development. All staff undertake basic mandatory courses and additional work based training depending on the needs of the clients.
