The Glen Private Nursing Home
The Glen Private Nursing Home is registered for nineteen residents including two bedrooms that are capable of accommodating two sharing. In practice, room sharing is rare, such that seventeen residents are normally the maximum. We are committed to providing a warm, friendly and welcoming environment with professional care suited to the needs of the individual. As a premier home we aim to be the first choice for those seeking the very best for their own family.
Qualified and experienced nurses take charge of each shift at the Glen to provide twenty four hour cover. Experienced care staff assist the registered nurse allowing us to provide an excellent resident to staff ratio.
Most importantly, our staff are particularly well established and consistent with many years of loyal service.
Accommodation
Located next to Ecclesall Woods, the decoration throughout is of a high standard with each en-suite room equipped with colour TV and private telephone in addition to the usual facilities. Residents are most welcome to have as many personal possessions as space and safety regulations will allow. Pets are usually welcome in arrangement with Matron.
The dining room and conservatory are used every day for those who wish to but residents who wish to stay in their own rooms are welcome to do so. There will always be a member of staff to assist in either case.
Catering, Laundry and Housekeeping
In addition to our excellent nursing staff, we have a dedicated ancillary staff ensuring that catering and other non-nursing duties such as laundry and cleaning are of a high standard.
We have a fine menu complemented by sherry in the mornings, red or white wine at luncheon and home made cakes and biscuits in the afternoon. Whilst there are set daily menus, residents can always order alternatives. Hot drinks and snacks are available at all times throughout the day and night for residents and their visitors. We have our own on site laundry.
Medical Services
We have a number of local doctors who visit us as required. Where appropriate, referrals are made to physiotherapy, speech therapy etc either under the NHS or privately.
Other Services
Our hairdresser visits each Thursday. The chiropodist visits every six weeks. We have gentle exercises most Tuesdays and the aromatherapist visits fortnightly. In addition, our own staff will assist with manicure as required.
Activities
We have a varied programme which individuals can embrace if they wish, together with regular trips out to points of local interest.
We have two touch screen computers especially adapted for use by the older generation. This helps us to encourage areas of personal interest and also allows free of charge contact with relatives anywhere in the world via the internet and SKYPE.
