Making the right choice is essential when selecting a home and there are many factors to consider. What is important is for you to feel ‘at home’ in comfortable surroundings and that you are confident in the professionally structured care. All our rooms at Summerhayes have a spacious feel to them and are comfortably furnished. Most rooms have lovely views of the countryside or the pretty village. Rooms can be redecorated at the resident’s request.

Summerhayes Care Home can offer long term and short stay placements as well as day care and respite care. Our friendly and experienced care staff ensure high standards of personal care is individually tailored to meet our residents’ requirements.

We offer a comprehensive and structured social activities programme, which is run by dedicated staff. We also regularly enjoy visitors from the local community, who further enhance our programme with their various interests and activities. We recognise that activities need to be tailored to suit the individual’s ability and have therefore designed the programme around this. Residents can participate as much as they would like to. If you prefer to just relax and rest, that is fine too.

Individual’s suffering with dementia are especially catered for within our activities programme. Summerhayes Care Home is committed to improving the quality of life for these individuals by encouraging regular sessions including memory games, singing, painting, colouring and creating scrap books.

We ask relatives to assist us by filling in a life questionnaire on behalf of every resident, and to provide us with photos if possible so that we can fully understand each individual’s life history. We also aim to take residents out at least four times a year to a major event, for example the theatre or the seaside, and more regularly to the shops or local garden centres.

We have a visiting hairdresser, chiropodist, aromatherapist and optician for those who require it. These services incur additional costs at the providers’ rates.
