Family-owned and managed, Porthgwara Nursing Home is situated in Coverack, one of the Lizard Peninsula’s memorable small fishing villages, renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and mild climate.

Our enviable, idyllic location means that residents enjoy superb panoramic sea, harbour and village views, with the Home itself being surrounded by two acres of beautiful subtropical gardens.

Since our conception in 1989 we pride ourselves in having created and maintained an extremely friendly, warm and comfortable home-from-home atmosphere allowing for freedom of choice and individuality. Our highly professional nursing, catering and domestic staff will see to your every need thus ensuring your well-being, peace of mind and security 24 hours a day.

We are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection to provide Nursing Care for 30 residents including old people, the terminally ill, and the physically disabled. We also have day care facilities for a maximum of 3 residents.

Our 24 hour nursing is available for Long or Short Term or Convalescent Stays and, of course, Day Care.

Every bedroom has a colour television and residents can have their own private telephone line installed. We have created seven day rooms, designed for resident comfort and privacy. They are used as lounges and dining areas, although residents may choose to have their meals in their own rooms. Our fully equipped kitchen caters for all diets.

Our five bathrooms and shower rooms offer electrically controlled bath hoists to ease any bathing difficulties.

All washing and ironing, including personal clothing, is carried out in our own fully equipped laundry. For those with mobility difficulties there are two passenger lifts serving all areas of the home. There’s full wheelchair accessibility throughout the home. Handrails are fitted in all our wide corridors, and there is… For the safety, security and comfort of our residents, we have a radio-controlled nurse call system, so that a helping hand is always close at hand. A fire alarm that has sensors throughout the home is another feature that gives peace of mind. All rooms are double glazed. A heat management system controls the central heating and water temperature, allowing residents to enjoy a constantly controlled environment
