Description:
Meadowside Residential Home
Meadowside Residential Home is a large Victorian House situated close to the centre of Tavistock, Devon. It is a well-managed home specialising in the care of adults with longstanding mental health needs. Meadowside provides a home for 11 adults and the majority of these have lived here for many years. The home is within walking distance of the local amenities including the Post Office, bus station, shops, swimming pool, library, cinema and park.
Meadowside Residential Home is well supported by it’s local GP surgery, Social Workers, Community Psychiatric Nurses and consultant Psychiatrists. Regular reviews ensure everyone has the best possible care. Meadowside is run by its owner/manager Mrs Anne Hine. The home was first registered in 1989.
Meadowside is a very happy and relaxed home where all residents are able to come and go as they please. Everyone is encouraged to take part in the regular residents meetings which include choosing menus, the colour of their rooms, planning holidays or just asking questions on how their home is run. The home provides support to residents so that they can become as independent as possible. Staff promote independent, social living and interpersonal skills.
Some residents join activities or groups set up in Tavistock itself e.g. walking, yoga, computer studies and conservation work. All residents are treated as individuals and have the same rights to privacy, dignity, independence and fulfilment as anyone else living in their own home. All bedrooms are single occupancy with locks, so that belongings are kept safe. They also have a lockable facility within them to store personal or valuable items, medication etc. securely.
Whatever people need, from a mental health point of view, we aim to provide in a relaxed, family atmosphere where people can feel in control of their own lives.
Fees charged are dependent on individual needs and the type of care package and facility required. Please contact the Manager to discuss in detail.
