Mariana House

At Mariana House we are committed to providing a high standard of permanent 24 hour support and personal care to older people. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission to care for up to 23 ladies and gentlemen, ranging from 60 years upwards in the capacity of ‘older people’; requiring residential care.

Our ethos at Mariana House is to provide an intimate home feeling with homely comforts, striving to improve the facilities to ensure a comfortable environment, in keeping with our “home from home” setting. It is our policy at Mariana House not to use agency or temporary staff; instead we support a permanent, loyal, and dedicated team. This enables us to give continuous, high quality, focused care to our residents, ensuring any subtle changes in their needs are swiftly acted upon.

We are aware that the home’s staff will always play an important role in service users’ welfare. To maximise this contribution, we employ staff in sufficient numbers and with the relevant mix of skills to meet the needs of the Service users. We observe recruitment policies and practices, which both respect equal opportunities and protect Service users’ safety and welfare. We are committed to the continuous development of our staff, investing in training to expand their knowledge and skills’, ensuring the best care is provided to our residents.

Our Team is dedicated to providing high quality personal care to ensure all residents’ independence, privacy and dignity are upheld. With optional day visits and a settling in period we work hard to get to know individual’s likes and dislikes. It is our aim to make everyday living a little easier, for example, visiting the toilet, bathing and getting up in the mornings and going to bed at night. Once we have got to know what works best for individual’s this is used to build the foundations of a written care plan. The care plan is a “live” document which is updated and reviewed during the individual’s stay with us.

We have several fitted aids for convenience and safety; an especially equipped bathroom with a tilting bath for easier bathing, or we have showers fitted with shower seats, a lift with access to each floors, ramps and wide corridors for easier access. Each room has an easy to reach emergency pull cord alarm system if staff assistance is required urgently and all bedrooms have washing facilities.

Our home is tastefully presented with sympathetic décor. We employ a rolling program of maintenance and refurbishment for the décor, facilities and grounds of the home to ensure it is presented well at all times. This year we have refurbished the main entrance hall, dining room and both communal lounges also installing new carpets throughout the ground floor & staircases. Redecoration and maintenance of bedrooms and staff areas when required is part of our ongoing refurbishment programme and our team of skilled maintenance operatives can be seen around the home from time to time.

We have new tasteful lounge room chairs in keeping with the new décor and recently updated our entertainment centres ready for the digital switch over. We offer both single and shared bedrooms and welcome personal items and furniture to personalise each bedroom. We also provide a secure place in each bedroom for valuables and residents’ privacy is respected at all times.

While in residence at Mariana House we will provide you with breakfast, lunch, tea and supper plus snacks and drinks, launder all your clothes and bed linen on site, clean and tidy all communal areas and your room if you wish.

We maintain the garden for leisure purposes and encourage our residents to spend time exploring our grounds or sitting out in the patio area if the weather is fine. The Garden can be viewed from most bedrooms and is easily accessed from our communal lounges.

Meals can be taken privately in an individual’s bedroom or in the main dining room with company of other guests or in one of the communal lounges. There are choices at mealtimes and alternatives can readily be sought. Snacks and drinks are always available as well as fresh fruit, yoghurts and ice cream. Any specific needs or dietary requirements will be accommodated by our in house cook.
