Cloisters EMI Residential Care Home

CLOISTERS is a 20 bed E.M.I. Residential Care Home established since 1989 that provides specialised Care for Elderly Ladies and Gentlemen who are suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

The Property is a detached, Edwardian house with spacious gardens to the front and to the rear. The Property is tastefully decorated. All rooms are bright and airy. Its position is in Abbotsford Road, Blundellsands, within two minutes walk of Railway Station and Bus Route. There are churches within five minutes walk catering for all denominations. Local amenities such as the Library, parks and the sea front promenade are within easy access.

Cloisters offers the option of a permanent move into Residential Care or Respite (subject to availability) for those people who are not quite ready to enter the Care Home on a permanent basis. Craignair is a quality Care Home currently assessed as Excellent by the Care Quality Commission and has a 5 star rating from an independent company Prestige Quality Rating (PQR).

For those who wish a permanent or respite rest home placement the accommodation consists of seventeen single rooms and two shared rooms.

En-suite bedrooms are available. Each bedroom has a nurse call facility, double plugs, a television point, over bed light and a wash hand basin. Bedroom furniture is provided but Service Users are encouraged to bring as many personal effects into the home as possible, in order to personalise their environment.

Bathrooms are located on every floor, along with separate W.C. A bath hoist has also been installed in order to make bathing a less traumatic experience for the elderly person. Other aids provided to make life easier include high-level toilet seats, grab rails, and a ramp to accommodate wheelchairs and zimmers. A five person hydraulic lift serves all four floors and is serviced regularly under contract. A full inspection takes place four times per year, which is two more than the statutory requirements.

There are three large lounges, two lounges have a television but one lounge is generally used as a quiet area. A separate dining room is used as a day room. This has proved very popular with the Service Users for them to receive and entertain visitors, as it is in close proximity to the kitchen where a cup of tea is always on hand.
