Description:
Abbendon Nursing Home
Abbendon Nursing Home is a part of Dovehaven Care Homes.
At Abbendon Nursing Home, we provide residential nursing care for older people who are suffering from Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, dementia and other similar conditions. We also offer a secure, homely and comfortable environment so our residents can lead fulfilled lives.
Our EMI Nursing Home has 24 beds and we provide both long term and respite care. Being a relatively small home allows us to function as a close community. We provide the quality of nursing care that our residents require, always to the highest standard and we treat all our residents with the respect and dignity that they deserve.
Abbendon Nursing Home is in Southport which is a traditional seaside retirement town with a beautiful coastline and an elegant Victorian centre.
ACCOMMODATION
The exterior of Abbendon has a traditional façade, while the interior has been designed to create a sense of openness and space allowing our residents to move about freely.
There are 14 single bedrooms and 5 double rooms in the care home, all with televisions and a nurse call system fitted in every room. There is accommodation on 3 floors with a modern passenger lift providing easy access to all areas. There is a bathroom on each floor and all bathrooms have chair lifts. Our residents particularly enjoy spending time in our conservatory on the first floor.
Outside we have a sheltered courtyard garden with benches and patio furniture which is beautifully maintained by our gardeners.
SERVICES
Our kitchen is modern and well equipped and our menus are designed to be delicious, nutritious and tempting. We encourage our residents to let us know what they want to eat and when, as our meals are all cooked within the home we can accommodate any special diets and meal requirements. We also have an in house laundry service and local chiropodist, optician and ministers of all denominations are regularly available to visit residents.
We endeavour to keep our resident’s minds and bodies active and stimulated and provide a range of mental, physical and social activities so our patients can enjoy the fullest possible lives. A full programme of entertainment is arranged by out team and music is especially important in many of the activities, ranging from sing-alongs to reminiscing. We also arrange regular trips out using our specially adapted minibus, we often take a picnic prepared by our chefs and relatives are more than welcome to join us.
