Description:

Stella Matutina Care Home

Stella Matutina Care Home is situated on the seaward side of Clifton Drive approximately 200 metres south of The White Church at Fairhaven, and some 500 metres north of Lytham Square. The extensive south-west facing grounds overlook the constantly changing vista of the Ribble estuary, to Southport and beyond.

This one-time substantial gentleman’s residence has been since 1934 in the ownership of The Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary, a charity founded in Belgium in 1803, and who now provide caring services in several countries throughout the world. It is this link with the Sisters that gives Stella Matutina its unique atmosphere of caring, calm, respect and dignity.

In recent years the property has benefited from a major refurbishment and offers very high standards of accommodation and facilities, combined with a truly caring approach in a homely and relaxed atmosphere. In 2014 a new lift with extension was installed to support the home for the future, also in the extension we introduced a large wet room to accommodate the residents needs.

Our aim is to provide our residents with high quality care and services that respect them as individuals with their own rights and responsibilities. We hope to enable them to achieve and maintain the highest level of independence possible, and to be able to exercise choice in the way they live their lives. We want them to enjoy themselves and to live as full a life as is possible during their time with us at Stella Matutina Care Home.

As a charity we do not seek to make profits, and any excess income is used to improve services and facilities.

The home is registered with the Care Quality Commission, and for many years has held the Residential & Domiciliary Care Bench marking 5* Award.  We also have Investors in People status, evidenced in part by our very high rates of staff retention.

The home welcomes Ladies and Gentleman from all denominations

Accommodation

We provide permanent accommodation with personal care for up to 42 residents aged 65 years and over, in single rooms with en-suite facilities.

Respite care and short stay is available with two of our rooms permanently allocated for this purpose.  These will need to be booked in advance with the Care Manager.

Emergency respite places will be available if there is a room free at that time, but admission would be based on a pre assessment as with permanent places.

Our light and spacious bedrooms are all fitted with Nurse Call/Emergency facility and TV point, and are furnished to a high standard.

Residents are welcome to bring personal items of furniture & other personal items such as photographs in order to personalise their rooms.

Although we do not provide nursing care, all residents have a local GP of their choice, and we are able to access the services of other specialists to meet residents’ particular needs.

We do not accommodate people with significant mental health problems, although we can care for people with minor memory problems provided they do not require ongoing specialist care.
