Florence House Residential Home is a private Residential Home in Huntingdon, registered by Care Quality Commission for twenty residents above the age of 65.
Set in a quiet residential area in the village of Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, Florence House is easily accessible from all major routes. There is ample parking on-site, with ramped access facilities.
Our Home
We offer a high standard of care, with facilities including:
- 20 single rooms, many of them en-suite, all on ground floor with patio doors overlooking the garden
- Daytime recreation facilities and activities
- Home-cooked food to suit all tastes and diets
- Regular visits from a hairdresser and a chiropodist, along with a mobile shop

Your Accommodation
All of our rooms are fully furnished. A range of armchairs and beds of various sizes are provided for you to choose from.
We want you to be comfortable at Florence House, and know the importance of making your personal space feel like home. That’s why we encourage you to bring small items of furniture, ornaments, pictures and photographs to personalise your room.
All bedrooms are single and have vanity units with hot and cold water. Other facilities include full central heating system, approved fire alarm and nurse call system and most rooms have a television point.
We supply clean towels and flannels. Dirty laundry is collected daily and returned to you freshly laundered. The cleaners will visit you daily and the care staff will make and change your bed.
Lounge and Dining Areas
Our ground floor lounge is light and spacious and we are proud of the imaginative menus provided by our experienced chefs.
Food quality and standard could not be higher at Florence House Residential Home, where all the food is cooked and prepared in our own kitchens. All foods come from local suppliers. We offer a daily choice of menus, with flexibility to ensure special diets are catered for.
Social Events/Entertainment
We have a dedicated activities co-ordinator. Activities such as bingo, exercises, art and painting are all part of it. A mobile shop is available weekly for necessities such as sweets and stamps.
Staff
The manager and senior managers meet regularly to review residents’ care needs and to discuss on-going issues relevant to the home. Most of the care staff live locally, and many have worked at Florence House for a number of years. Over 80% of the care staff have obtained NVQ level 2 or 3 qualification in care and several are also undergoing training. The home’s policy is actively to train staff in necessary key skills such as manual handling, first aid, fire safety, infection control, food hygiene as well as to encourage those who want to take further professional qualifications to do so.
Fees
We have a policy of charging residents according to their care needs and the type of room. Prior to entry, the level of charge is assessed by the manager or head of care.
Residential fees currently are in the range of £500.00 to £700.00 a week.
