Melrose is located just off the main road in Hoylake, within easy walking distance of a wide range of shops, restaurants, churches, other community facilities and the shore on Deeside. Hoylake is well served by public transport. The home has 29 bedrooms on two floors. This includes two flats with three bedrooms in each which are used to aid rehabilitation. There is parking to the front and an internal courtyard garden area.

Melrose is owned by Polder Health Care.

Polder Health Care has been offering residential care packages for adults with enduring mental health problems on Wirral since 1989 and is dedicated to offering personalised and holistic care options, which are reflective of the specific needs of both the individual seeking support and their family.

Melrose Facilities

Bedrooms

  • Single occupancy rooms with central heating, double glazing.

  • All rooms have a washbasin and some have en-suite.

  • All rooms are furnished,  although residents may personalise the rooms with their own possessions if they wish

  • All rooms have a lockable personal medication cabinet

Rehabilitation Kitchen

  • The rehabilitation kitchen is fully equipped to encourage more independent living

Relaxation and Social Activities

  • Polder Health Care is committed to encouraging social inclusion for all residents and actively encourages use of community resources and activities wherever possible. This maximises social and community interaction and meaningful activity, identified as positively beneficial for a range of mental health presentations (Department of Health, 2011)

  • Relaxing is made easy, with the provision of:

  • A television lounge with DVD and range of films available to be viewed

  • A quite reading room

  • A dining room with television and DVD player

  • Conservatory and patio areas which are complimented by extensive lawned gardens and equipped with garden furniture

  • Activities, outings and one two one interaction  are available if requested and identified in the individuals care plan

Physical well-being

  • Regular meetings are held with residents to discuss issues relating to their personal care and they will require to be registered with a General Practitioner (GP) of thier choice

  • Medical attendance by local general practitioners can be arranged or service users may retain their own doctor should they be from the local area

  • Service users are encouraged to visit a chiropodist, dentist and optician periodically.  Alternatively, we can arrange for home visits where appropriate.
