Glen Lyn is a small care home in Minehead, a coastal resort in the picturesque surroundings of Exmoor and West Somerset. We offer long term , short stay and day care facilities. We were awarded quality rated status in 2001; an award given to those providers whose standards exceed minimum requirements.

Our facilities

It has 11 single ensuite rooms and provides professional individualised support in a calm, relaxed and very homely environment. Our Minehead care home is particularly suited to those people whose anxieties mean they are unable to look after themselves at home and for people who have mild to moderate confusional states. We offer freshly prepared home-cooked food.

Who we care for

We welcome those who are funded by the Local Authority as well as those who will be paying for their own care. It is suggested that a trial stay of 4 weeks gives enough time for a person to begin to feel at home and to ensure the placement is the right one.

Nutritionally balanced meals and the finest fresh food

At the Glen Lyn Care Home in Somerset all our food is freshly prepared on the premises by our nutritionally trained cook. People can choose where they take their meals. Either in their own rooms or in our peaceful dining room

Breakfasts at Glen Lyn

Breakfast is served at times according to preference but usually between 7- 10am with a choice of

Porridge/Cereals
Full English
Toast and Preserves
Smoked Haddock and Eggs
Fresh Juices/Tea/Coffee

Through the day

Mid Morning and mid afternoon snacks and drinks are a choice of hot and cold drinks, sweet biscuits, fruitcake, oatcakes and dried fruits

Lunch

Lunch is served at 1pm – here is a small sample from our varied menu

Lamb Patties with Fruit Sauce and minted creamed potatoes
Exmoor Chicken and Saute potatoes
Beef in Guiness with layonnaise potatoes

All our main meals are served with a choice of 3 seasonal vegatables

Dessert consists of a trolley with hot choice such as Chocolate Sponge, Apple and Blackberry Pie, Peach and Pear Crumble, cold choice such as Cheesecake, Eaton Mess or Bannoffee Pie, fresh fruit and yoghurt

In the evening

High Tea is served at 5:30pm and consists of a hot or cold choice such as Chicken Supreme on Toast, Salmon Fishcakes, Quiche Lorraine, plus sandwiches, salads and home-made soups

From 8pm onwards we offer a selection of teacakes, pancakes, crumpets, cheese and biscuits, toast or sandwiches and of course hot and cold drinks

Special requirements

We do stress that these times and menu items are entirely flexible to suit individual tastes and requirements. Special diets can be catered for.
