Tavey House is a residential care home ideal for both physical and mental health needs and welcomes temporary and permanent residents, providing quality care recognised by modern standards.

Tavey House, established in 1986, is a mixed residential home for older people 65 years and over suffering with varying degrees of dementia (Registered category MD (Mental Disorder), DE (Dementia).

 

Location, Premises & Facilities

The home is a detached property that is set back from Grove Road behind a part paved and part tarmac surface forecourt that provides parking space for some six- seven vehicles.

There is gated access at the side of the property, leading to the rear garden. There is an external fire escape leading from the first floor to the rear garden. Tavey House can accommodate 12 long or short stay residents. There are ten bedrooms, comprising eight single rooms and two twin rooms.

All rooms have large windows which makes them bright and pleasant. All rooms are spacious and within the size limits required by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). All bedrooms have their own wash-hand basin and five bedrooms have en-suite facilities. There are two bathrooms, one wet room and one bathroom with a hoist. A staff and visitors WC is situated on the ground floor.

Furnishings, Call-Bells & Telephones

Although all rooms are furnished, we encourage residents to personalise their rooms with small items of furniture, photographs & personal possessions; it is after all their home.

Each bedroom has a lockable door and access to a call-bell point. Residents and visitors are encouraged to use this system to call a member of staff for any need, not only for medical emergencies.

Any member of staff will be happy to assist residents to make or receive calls on the home telephone line. Alternatively, private lines can be connected in residents’ own rooms upon request. Staff are not permitted to use mobile phones in the premises.
