A former guest house, the building was converted into a Residential Home in the late 80’s. Situated on a quiet side street close to the beautiful and locally renowned Vivary Park, St. George’s Care Home enjoys close proximity to town centre amenities without the noise and pollution of city centre life.

With 19 comfortable en-suite bedrooms, tranquil gardens and courtyard, we place much emphasis on St. George’s feeling like a lovely family home.

“Care without compromise” sums up our ethos, where the care is first rate with all staff fully qualified in all aspects of care provision with decades of experience among them. We are proud to be independent and privately run, making attention to detail one of our biggest fortes.

Our aims and philosophy are to create a pleasant environment as close to that of an ordinary home as possible, caring for our residents as if he or she were in the care of their own family, whilst preserving privacy and dignity.

Our bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are equipped with grab rails, low entry baths, toilet aids and some even benefit from electric beds. The decor is refreshed as often as possible to keep rooms clean and bright.

Whilst all rooms are furnished, new residents are actively encouraged to bring their own furniture and to personalise their rooms with pictures and ornaments.

Equipment & Facilities

One of our most fundamental pieces of equipment is our Nurse Call system, without which residents would not be able to summon assistance from care staff. There is a remote control unit in each bedroom, bathroom and communal area.

We also have apparatus such as bath chairs so that staff can help residents bathe. All equipment is thoroughly checked and tested to conform to LOLER 1998. (Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations).

There is a lift for those who reside on the first floor and wheelchairs and frames available to all. Steps and changes in level have been replaced with ramps wherever possible.
