Sharmway Private & Residential Home is a privately owned Home for the elderly offering both permanent and respite care in Handsworthwood Birmingham – we’re now in our 23rd year!

We are experienced in the caring/nursing professions so caring is the pinnacle of our care. As the owners and managers of the Home we work alongside our staff delivering care and that’s just the way we like it! We advocate and open door policy to our service users (SU’s), relatives/representatives and staff.

Our purpose as a Care Home is to offer small group living in a beautiful house with a home from home atmosphere. Our philosophy is that all of our SU’s receive not only a high standard of care, but to do with complete confidentiality, individuality, dignity and respect at all times whilst promoting independence in a safe environment. As a small Home we can offer a tailored package of care to each SU that is specific to their needs. Our staff know each person’s capabilities, likes and dislikes personally. This enables us to involve all SU’s and their representatives in every aspect of their care from care planning to choice about activity participation helping our SU’s wherever possible to improve, maintain and develop new skills.

We believe each SU is unique with their own beliefs, religious, cultural needs and values, we promote equality and diversity for all of our SU’s whilst protecting their right to choose and express their own individual beliefs and practices. We cater for various diets and medical needs as have the input of a highly trained nurse on hand to guide us if necessary. Our pastoral care is excellent and we welcome all faiths and beliefs to our Home.

We’re really proud of our staff, they are all trained to exceptional high standards and supervision is on a continuous basis.
