Description:

Pymhurst

Pymhurst is a 6 bedded house for people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour, including related conditions such as autism, dementia, epilepsy and diabetes. We pride ourselves on providing a safe, comfortable, homely and caring environment which is friendly and relaxed.

The people who live at Pymhurst are encouraged to coexist as a family, having respect for each others feelings and possessions and to support each other while also maintaining individual lifestyle choices. Residents are encouraged to develop self help and independent living skills. All residents are involved in creating their person centred plans and health action plans which are regularly reviewed with them. Each resident has a keyworker whose role it is to ensure the residents needs are being met by holding regular meetings with them. House meetings are held every six weeks where residents can tell us their views and we can involve them in decisions and changes that may be happening.
The home has a team of enthusiastic and experienced staff who are facilitating individual life choices and helping overcome behavioural issues to promote fulfilling and happy lives. The staff team are lead by a dedicated and experienced manager and all staff participate in a continuing training programme.
Pymhurst is a large detached house in the residential area in the centre of Guildford with far reaching views of the surrounding countryside and is a short walk away the many amenities the town has to offer. All the rooms are single occupancy and decorated to individual tastes, there is a communal lounge, dining room and kitchen. The house has a large enclosed garden ideal for sitting out in warm weather. Pymhurst also has a very sociable cat!  The home has had a  lift has installed to make the upper floor of the house wheelchair accessible.
Residents are supported to access a variety of different activities including day centre, adult education classes and social clubs. Just Homes also has its own day activities support. Just Homes also encourages inter-house socialising through regular parties and events such as bowling competitions, sports days and picnics. Residents are encouraged and supported to maintain relationships with family and friends by both visiting them and inviting them to Pymhurst. Everyone is supported to go on a holiday of their choice each year if they wish and we have a wheelchair accessible car to assist with transport on outings.
