Description:
Eldron Care
Eldron Care provides residential care for adults with learning disabilities.
Situated in Linton Colliery, the property is a five bedroom house registered for up to four service users. We provide a homely environment for our service users and although staffed 24/7, it is their home (albiet shared). It is as close as possible to a supported living setting while meeting the requirements and having the oversight of residential care.
We have excellent relationships with service users and their relatives and our small friendly staff team provides familiarity and consistent level of support.
About Eldron Care
John and Delia Cole started out in 1993 volunteering their spare time to support individuals with learning disabilities.
At the time, John was working as a coal miner while Delia was a district nurse. Their voluntary work, and that of others, was uncommon at a time when public perception and acceptance of disability was considerably different from what it is today.
They were encouraged to join the Adult Placement Scheme (what is Shared Lives today) and they shared their home full time with an adult requiring their support. In time regulation changed and they were required to register as a Care Home by which time there was another individual living with them and so the care provider JT & D Cole (trading as Eldron Care) was born.
Due to the support offered and the success with individuals who found it difficult to settle elsewhere, Eldron Care gradually evolved with small groups of individuals living together in a residential and community setting.
Health and Social Care continued to change; CSCI evolved in to CQC, the Health & Social Care Act 2008 was introduced, the Regulated Activities 2010 was replaced by the Regulated Activities 2014 and so it goes.
Residential Care, by its very nature, is a structure that inherently poses challenges to promoting independence and individual care however, we strive to ensure that everyone lives their lives as individuals.
