Description:
The Wedge Residential Care Home
The Wedge Residential Care Home isĀ in beautiful Hayling Island, Hampshire.
The recently extended Wedge has 20 single bedrooms, 18 of which have en-suite facilities. At the Wedge retirement home on Hayling Island we take the time to get to know each of our residents and help them to enjoy a way of life that individually suits them. Our dedicated team of professionals have each been chosen for their caring loving attitude to ensure continued wellbeing and happiness remains at the heart of whatever we do.
Set in really lovely gardens, The Wedge offers a truly home from home atmosphere, where you can choose to be as active or relaxed as you wish.
The Wedge is a family run residential care home, originally purchased by John and Monica Macey in 1984. At the time of purchase the property was registered for 5 residents. Over the years the home has been extensively extended and is now registered for 20 residents with 18 of the bedrooms having en-suite facilities.
The home is managed by John and Monica’s daughter, Jo Macey, a qualified nurse, who took over the running over 13 years ago.
We have an excellent team of staff and are delighted that we have a low turnover of our team, which of course provides continuity of care for our residents.
At The Wedge we do not employ agency staff.
We are conscious that this our resident’s home and visitors are always welcome as they bring such pleasure to our residents.. We are a pet friendly home with our deputy manager’s dog Buddy given a relatively free roam of the house and has become a friend and comfort to many of our residents.
We do not run a regimented regime as each day will be different depending on the needs of our residents. However whatever is going on we always make sure there is time for a chat and a drink. Our aim is for our residents to feel well loved and cared for in a home from home environment.
We have an activity co-ordinator in the home four afternoons a week to help our residents with a complete range of entertainment and activities which can be as a group or on a one to one basis.
