Description:
Mary Rush Care
Mary Rush Care provides care and support for adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health difficulties. We strive to discover their personal goals and to develop and enjoy life as they would wish, always with absolute freedom and choice in a wide range of activities.
Accommodation is provided in both full residential and supported living homes and whilst these may differ, our objective is always the same – to provide an individually tailored framework of care to allow each personality to pursue life to the full and realise their dreams and ambitions.
We aim to provide care and support for people who cannot wholly look after themselves. We provide our service in the care home at times convenient to you and in ways you find most agreeable. We have sound principles for the way we run our service. Central to these is our belief that the rights of individuals who use our service are paramount.
We strive to be unique and to differentiate ourselves from other providers of care. Above all, life in a Mary Rush Home is meant to be fun – we care for all individuals who use our service and a true ethos of family, support and happiness permeates everything that we do.
Our Residential Care Facility – The Retreat based in Quedgeley, Gloucester provides assessment and support for 13 adults living with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems. Some of the people we support also have communication difficulties and may also present complex conditions or have behaviours that challenge.
Our service offers 24/7 specialist residential support and is committed to providing just enough support to empower and encourage individuals to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible and achieve positive outcomes for all.
Our Approach
Everything we do is determined by the people who use our services, their personal needs and the choices they wish to make. We have a team of skilled and experienced support workers whose aim is to allow every individual to live as independently as possible in line with their goals and aspirations. A personalised plan of care is created for each person to enable them to have their say to ensure the care and support they receive is tailored specifically to their own needs.
Life at The Retreat
The home is designed to provide both quiet and communal areas for learning, relaxing and socialising. Individuals are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms and staff will assist in helping them create their perfect relaxation space.
Individuals are also encouraged to engage with activities that will help them develop their independence skills and achieve positive outcomes. We have a daily activities programme based on individual interests and abilities. Individuals can decide what they want to do based on their person centred plan, as well as through the discovery of further hobbies and activities for example, sports activities, swimming, bowling, cinema visits.
We actively encourage and support everyone staying with us to have their own hobbies and interests. We plan days out and individual daily activities for each person living with us. Families are welcome to visit at any time and we love to involve family and friends in special occasions and celebrations at the Home.
Our home is always open to visits from friends and family members and we like regularly hold activities where family and friends are encouraged to join in.
